Gary A. Bolles is an independent consultant specializing in strategy development and execution for early-stage companies, especially software and media. A frequent lecturer and speaker, he is also a contributing editor to CIO Insight magazine, and authors a popular newsletter on hi-tech events.

Bolles has an extensive background in the launches of both software and media businesses. He has been on the startup management team of several successful software startups, including serving as the founding Chief Operating Officer for Evolve Software (NASDAQ: EVLV); as the Vice President of Marketing for Network Products Corporation; and led the founding of Ziff Davis Internet, the online arm of the technology media company.

A former advisor on technology and marketing strategies for later-stage companies, Bolles’ previous clients included companies such as Turner Broadcasting and Goldman Sachs. He has been a well-known advisor to early-stage Internet startup companies, assisting founders with strategy development, financing advice, and CEO coaching services, and currently serves as a Director for early-stage companies MEconomy and Creative Disturbance.

Bolles has developed a wide-ranging industry viewpoint and contact network through nearly a decade of print, online, and broadcast experience. He was the founding editor-in-chief of Interactive Week; the founding editorial director of Yahoo! Internet Life and of Sm@rt Partner magazines; the former editor-in-chief of Network Computing Magazine; and the former host of TechTV’s “Working the Web” weekly television show. He is also the co-founder and contributing editor of Conferenza, the premier site for hi-tech events.
